We will handle your personal information in line with our Data Protection Policy, a copy of which
is available on request.
We process personal data to enable us to:

1. Provide help to couples by:
   • Running Christian courses for marriage preparation, marriage enhancement
     and parenting and providing leadership training for these courses
   • Providing marriage conferences and other marriage events
   • Providing prayer support for those who are attending or have attended 2=1 courses
   • Providing marriage materials such as books and videos
2. Maintain our list of 2=1 contacts for the purpose of promoting our courses and other services
3. Respond effectively to enquirers and handle any complaints
4. Recruit, support and manage staff and volunteers;
5. Maintain our accounts and records; including records required by Inland revenue for
   claiming tax relief on charity giving
6. Liaise with other 2=1 organisations throughout the world and other marriage
   organisations to help us achieve the above

We ensure that all personal data processing is fair and lawful by making sure that at least one of the following legal conditions, as listed in Article 6 of the GDPR (General Data Protection
Regulation), is met:

1. The processing is necessary for a contract with the data subject;
2. the processing is necessary for us to comply with a legal obligation;
3. The processing is necessary to protect someone’s life (this is called “vital interests”);
4. The processing is necessary for us to perform a task in the public interest, and the task has a clear basis in law;
5. The processing is necessary for legitimate interests pursued by 2=1 (UK) or another
   organisation we have dealings with, unless these are overridden by the interests, rights
   and freedoms of the data subject.
6. If none of the other legal conditions apply, the processing will only be lawful if the data
   subject has given their clear consent.

It will be clear how and why we process your personal data at the point we collect data from you as well as when we collect data about you from other sources. If data is collected from another source, rather than directly from you, we will let you know what data we have collected and where it came from. You have the right to access and rectify mistakes in the data we hold about you at any time.

Where none of the other legal conditions apply to the processing, and we are required to get consent from you in accordance with (f) above, we will clearly set out what we are asking consent for, including why we are collecting the data and how we plan to use it. Consent will be
specific to each process we are requesting consent for and we will only ask for consent when
you have a real choice whether or not to provide us with the data. Your consent can however be withdrawn at any time and if withdrawn, future processing will stop.

You have a choice as to whether or not you receive publicity information and other communications from us and you can withdraw your consent from specific communication channels at any time. In cases where we are processing your personal data on the basis of our legitimate interest, you can ask us to stop for reasons connected to your individual situation. We will then do so unless we believe we have a legitimate overriding reason to continue processing your personal data.

We liaise with other marriage organisations and are sometimes asked for an individual’s contact details in order to discuss a related matter to the 2=1 ministry or arrange or book into an event or meeting or similar. We will only share such contact information with another organisation or person when we have a legal basis to do so.

We will retain your data for as long as is reasonably necessary for us for historical purposes and to comply with the above legal conditions. Where couples have provided personal data in registering or attending a 2=1 course we will delete and destroy that personal data at the end of the course unless the couple have requested to be trained as 2=1 leaders. In this case the couple will need to fill out a leader’s questionnaire which will include a question about retaining personal data while the couple are leaders or training as leaders for 2=1 courses. However, provided we have their agreement, we will keep contact details of couples that have attended a course so that we may provide them updates about the ministry and invite them to special events that we consider might be of interest to them.
We will use appropriate measures to keep personal data secure at all points of processing. Keeping data secure includes protecting it from unauthorised or unlawful processing, or from accidental loss, destruction or damage.
